Extremis has never designed furniture around trends. Instead, the Belgian design brand creates timeless products that bring people together, what they call Tools for Togetherness. Their furniture is built to last for decades, and they wanted the same philosophy to apply to their digital landscape.
When their existing website reached end-of-life, Extremis didn’t want another platform that would become obsolete after a few years. They wanted a digital foundation that could evolve alongside their business, integrate with the rest of their ecosystem, and stay relevant as AI rapidly changes how digital experiences are built. That’s where Two Point O came in.
The website itself was only part of the problem. Over the years, Extremis had invested in multiple digital initiatives, but many systems had grown independently. Product information, ERP data, and website content were disconnected, creating unnecessary manual work and making future innovation increasingly difficult.
At the same time, the existing website platform was approaching end-of-life, forcing the company to rethink its digital architecture. Rather than replacing one platform with another, Extremis wanted to answer a much bigger question: how do you build a digital platform that is ready for technology you cannot predict yet?
That question also carried financial weight. Technology is moving fast, and nobody can say with certainty what role AI will play in building websites a few years from now. For a company the size of Extremis, a website is a significant investment, so the choice of platform needed to hold up regardless of how that evolves.
Why Two Point O?
That's the dilemma Extremis brought to the table, and it is exactly what set Two Point O apart during the pitch. Extremis looked for a partner that could help them make architectural decisions that would still make sense years from now, whichever way the AI question played out.
During the selection process, Two Point O focused on the long-term impact of every technology choice, explaining not only what to build, but why certain architectural decisions would create more flexibility later.
What convinced Extremis was the value: an architecture that was future-proof, connected cleanly with their other systems, and gave them the confidence they were making the right long-term investment.
A composable architecture designed for change
Together, we designed a composable platform centered on:
A decoupled architecture ready for future front-end evolution
Structured content that can be reused across channels
An AI-ready content foundation
Instead of manually copying product information into the website, product and dealer data now flow directly from the ERP into the CMS. This significantly reduces manual work while ensuring consistency across the platform.
That is also the answer to the investment dilemma Extremis started with. Because content and presentation are separated, the value of the investment does not depend on guessing how websites will be built in a few years. Whatever changes on the front end, whether that is a redesign or an AI-generated experience, the structured data underneath keeps its value.
As Thibaud Valcke explains: “We can’t predict what websites will look like in three years. But by separating the content layer from the presentation layer, we know we can keep reusing our structured data, even if the front end changes completely.”
Improving the customer experience
Research showed that visitors generally appreciated the visual quality of the previous website. The real issue was finding information. Together with Humix, we restructured the information architecture around how visitors approach the brand.
The new navigation recognises two different audiences:
Visitors who already know Extremis and want to quickly find products and technical information.
Visitors discovering the brand who first need inspiration before selecting products.
Instead of overwhelming visitors with an expanding navigation structure, the new experience guides users towards the information most relevant to their intent. For inspiration pages, visitors can immediately filter by context, such as home, workplace, healthcare, education or public spaces, making it easier to imagine products in their own environment.
Ready for AI
For Extremis, AI is not a future project. It is already influencing today’s architectural decisions. Because product information and content are now structured inside Sanity, the team is already exploring how AI can:
identify missing content opportunities
suggest new customer references
generate social media content
help scale marketing output without growing the team
The goal is straightforward: do much more with the same team, in order to reach more people through more content and more channels, without adding headcount.
A real partnership, not just a project
Large digital projects inevitably evolve. New insights emerge during implementation, systems behave differently than expected, and priorities shift.
For Extremis, what stood out most was how these moments were handled. Rather than treating every challenge as extra scope, both teams worked together to find the solution that best served the business.
We didn't want a website that would grind to a halt after two years, but a future-proof setup that talks to our product data in Odoo and is ready for the AI revolution. Two Point O challenged our assumptions and built that vision out into a modern, headless site. An open, equal partnership with the same ambition.
The philosophy behind Extremis products is simple: design for longevity. That same philosophy now extends into their digital platform.
By choosing composable architecture, structured content and an AI-ready foundation, Extremis has invested in technology that can continue evolving alongside the business, without starting over every few years. Because future-proof isn’t about predicting what’s next. It’s about being ready when it arrives.
